Drop Your Rug Off At The Milford Shop. Pick It Up When It’s Ready.
Milford customers have the easiest path to a clean rug of anyone in MetroWest — our shop is right here at 142 East Main Street. Drop your rug off in person, and we’ll call when it’s ready. From antique Persians passed down through generations of Milford families to a brand-new wool runner you bought last fall, every rug gets the cleaning method that’s right for the fiber and construction. WoolSafe approved, IICRC Master Textile certified, and family-owned in Milford for 25+ years.
What Happens After Your Rug Comes Through Our Shop Door.
Milford is the only town where dropping your rug off in person is the easy default. Here’s the actual process your rug goes through after it comes through our shop door, step by step.
Bring It In
142 East Main Street, Milford. Right on Route 16.
What happens: Call ahead at (508) 922-7379 to schedule a drop-off time so we have someone there to receive it. No appointment fee, no surprises — just walk it in and we’ll take it from there.
Inspection & Written Estimate
Before any water touches the fibers.
What happens: We identify the fiber (wool, silk, viscose, cotton, synthetic), assess condition, check for color stability, look for pre-existing damage, and write you a firm estimate. You approve before we start.
Mechanical Dusting
If the rug’s construction can handle it.
What happens: The rug goes through our heavy duster, which releases pounds of dry soil trapped at the base of the pile. This is the step a wand-on-the-floor cleaner can never replicate — it’s also what makes the wash work.
The Right Wash For The Rug
Method matched to the fiber, not the other way around.
What happens: Submersion bath for rugs that can take it, hand-cleaning for delicates. WoolSafe-approved chemistry, color-stable rinse, pH balanced for the fiber. We never use a one-size-fits-all approach.
Controlled Drying
In our shop — not on your hardwood floor.
What happens: The rug hangs on our drying rack with controlled airflow until completely dry through the foundation. This is what prevents mildew, dye-bleed, and the moisture damage that ruins fine rugs cleaned on-site.
When it’s ready: Pick it up at the shop on your schedule, or book delivery for a small fee. Most rugs are done within 1 to 2 weeks depending on size, soil level, and time of year.

An Area Rug Is Not a Section of Wall-to-Wall Carpet.
It's one of the most common — and most expensive — mistakes in the cleaning industry. A company shows up at your Milford home, drags your hand-knotted Persian across the floor, blasts it with a hot-water wand, and leaves it to dry in place. Within a week the foundation has wicked moisture into the hardwood underneath. Within a month the dyes have bled. Within a year the fibers have shrunk and the rug is unrecognizable.
Area rugs are meant to be cleaned off-site, in a controlled environment, with the method that’s actually right for the rug. Our shop at 142 East Main Street is set up for exactly that — inspection, dusting if safe, the right cleaning approach for the fiber and construction, controlled drying, and the rug returned to you in better condition than it left.

The Rugs We Wash for Milford Customers
From antique Persians passed down through Town Center antique families to a brand-new viscose runner from a Boston designer — every rug type needs its own approach.
Persian & Oriental
Hand-knotted antiques, tribal weavings, fine Persians. Color-tested before any cleaning starts, dye-stable rinsing, dried with the method that's right for the rug.
Wool Area Rugs
WoolSafe-approved process. pH-neutral, lanolin-preserving wash that protects the fiber's natural durability and luster.
Silk & Viscose
Delicate fibers where water in the wrong hands ruins everything. We have specialized lower-moisture methods for these high-risk materials.
Antique & Heirloom
Family treasures from older Milford homes — many that have been in the same family since the original owner bought the house in the 60s or 70s. Museum-grade handling and the gentlest cleaning method for the piece.
Modern & Machine-Made
Polypropylene, polyester, and nylon area rugs from Pottery Barn, RH, Wayfair, and similar — cleaned thoroughly and affordably.
Pet Urine Decontamination
The right approach depends on the rug, but the goal is the same: actually remove the urine, not mask it. We assess each case and apply the appropriate decontamination process.

Be careful with companies offering to "clean your wool or silk rug right on your floor" with a wand. Wand cleaning leaves moisture trapped in the foundation, causes shrinkage of the foundation cotton or wool, and can permanently distort the rug. If a Milford-area company offers in-place wand cleaning on a fine rug — call us instead. That said, we do make exceptions ourselves: depending on the rug type and soil level, in-home cleaning can be the right call. We'll tell you up front whether your rug is a good candidate.
