Off-Site Area Rug Cleaning in Hopkinton, MA
Oriental, Persian, wool, antique, and contemporary area rugs — every rug cleaned with the method that's right for it, at our Milford shop. Call ahead to schedule a drop-off time at the shop, or book pickup & delivery for a small fee depending on location.

Your Area Rug Deserves More Than a Vacuum and a Wand.
Most "rug cleaning" services treat your area rug like wall-to-wall carpet — same machine, same wand, same process. That's a mistake. Area rugs (especially wool, silk, and hand-knotted Orientals) need to be cleaned in a controlled environment with the method that's actually right for the rug — not blasted with a wand on your hardwood floor.
We bring your rug to our shop in Milford, where we can inspect it, dust out the dry soil (if it's safe to do so), and clean it using the approach that fits the fiber and construction. Every rug is different. Some need full-immersion bathing; others need controlled hand-washing or low-moisture cleaning. We choose what's safest and most effective for your specific rug — no shrinkage, no color bleed, no fiber damage.
- Call to schedule a drop-off at our Milford shop, or book pickup & delivery (small fee)
- Cleaning method matched to the rug — not a one-size-fits-all process
- Safe for wool, silk, cotton, and natural dyes
- Inspected and quoted before any cleaning begins
The Rugs We Specialize In
From antique Persians passed down through generations to a brand-new Pottery Barn jute rug in your Hopkinton family room — every rug type needs its own approach.
Oriental & Persian
Hand-knotted antiques, tribal rugs, fine Persians. Color-tested before any cleaning starts, dye-stable rinsing, dried with the method that's right for the rug.
Wool Rugs
WoolSafe approved process. pH-neutral, lanolin-preserving wash that protects the fiber's natural durability.
Silk & Viscose
Delicate fibers that water can ruin in the wrong hands. We have specialized methods for these high-risk materials.
Synthetic & Machine-Made
Polypropylene, polyester, and nylon area rugs from Pottery Barn, RH, Wayfair, and similar — cleaned thoroughly and affordably.
Antique & Heirloom
Family treasures get our most careful hand: museum-grade handling and the gentlest cleaning method for the piece.
Pet Urine Decontamination
The right approach depends on the rug, but the goal is the same: actually remove the urine, not mask it. We assess each case and apply the appropriate decontamination process for your specific rug.
What Actually Happens to Your Rug
When your rug leaves your Hopkinton home, it goes through a careful multi-day process — not a quick wand-and-wave.
Pickup or Drop-Off
You can drop the rug off at our Milford shop, or we'll schedule a pickup (small fee for pickup & delivery, varies by location). The detailed inspection happens back at our shop, not on your floor.
Inspection & Dusting
At the shop, we identify the fiber and construction, color-test the dyes, and document condition. If the rug is safe to dust this way, our large tumble duster gently works out the dry soil packed into the foundation — pounds of it that vacuums never touched.
Pre-Treatment
Spots, stains, and contaminated areas get hand treatment with appropriate, fiber-safe products.
The Right Cleaning Method
We don't put every rug through the same process. Depending on the fiber and construction, that might mean full-immersion bath, controlled hand-washing, low-moisture cleaning, or surface treatment — whatever is safest and most effective for your specific rug.
Drying
Some rugs dry best flat. Others dry safely on our rug rack with high-volume fans and a dehumidifier running. We pick the right drying method for the rug — no over-drying, no trapped moisture.
Final Inspection & Return
Brushed, groomed, wrapped in protective plastic. You either pick it up from our shop or we deliver it back to your Hopkinton home (small fee for delivery, varies by location).

Never let a carpet cleaner wash your wool or silk area rug in place with a wand. Wand cleaning leaves moisture in the foundation, causes shrinkage, and can permanently distort the rug. If a company offers to "clean it on your floor," call us instead. That said, we do make exceptions ourselves: depending on the rug type and soil level, in-home cleaning can be the right call. We'll tell you up front whether your rug is a good candidate.
What Customers Say About Our Rug Cleaning.
"It was a real pleasure to deal with Lovejoy Carpet Care. From pick-up to delivery, Brian made the whole process seamless. When he unrolled our newly cleaned oriental rug, I was amazed at how great it looked — deep, long-standing stains I thought were surely permanent were gone or barely noticeable."— Meg B., Verified Google Review
"Brian has cleaned multiple rugs. Twice I believed the rugs were a total loss. Brian removed a stain and pet urine odor. The service is prompt and the pick up and delivery is a huge bonus. There is nothing he cannot do. Brian is very professional and honest."— Angie J., Verified Google Review
"Lovejoy is a master at getting pet stains out. They can also make rugs with heavy traffic look like new. The rugs on my stairs look like they needed to be replaced and now look brand new. We also have tight weave wool area rugs, and we would not trust cleaning them to anyone else."— Mitchell W., Verified Google Review
